Becoming One with the Sun Meditation

Now that the sun is becoming more gentle, I was able to do an early morning meditation today sitting in the full sunlight. It felt like a warm embrace after the stronger glare of August light. If the sun isn’t shining, you might also try listening to the audio version below while looking at a photo of the sun. Then when you feel you have entered virtual sunlight, you can close your eyes. Try it for yourself.

Sit outdoors in the full sun in a place that will remain in sunlight for the length of your meditation. If that’s not possible, you could also sit in the sunlight near a window.

Get comfortable, close your eyes and relax into the warmth. Do some deep centering breaths. Feel the light permeating your eyelids and infusing your whole body with solar energy. You are now a passive solar collector.

With each in breath feel your mid-section expand and become pure sunlight. In your mind’s eye see the sun’s rays flood into your entire being. Feel your insides vibrating with the healing light. Sense the heat waves emanating from your skin.

Now you are ready to direct your focus: concentrate on the color yellow. Become yellow. Breathe in yellow. Become the orb itself. Glow within. Go within. Simply be yellow.

Now feel the warmth increasing, enveloping you in tender orange light. This light has a sweetness to it that may make you smile. Feel your heart turning orange. Feel your pulse attuning to the sun. Breathe in orange. Sense your own energy revitalizing, surging. Claim the sun as your own fuel source. Be orange. You are the sun. See how you shine.

You are luminous. You are bright. You are radiant. You are the light.

You might want to try this meditation on a cold, gloomy day and see if you can channel the sun right through the clouds and into your soul. If you would like to experience an audio version of this meditation, click on the player below.

Glad to help, Wildely! Love your name…isn’t it fun to feel the rush and flow of a wonderful flood of creativity? As autumn approaches, we need to absorb all the fleeting sun we can–especially up here in the far north. ~Oriana
