SKY SHOWS, VIDEOS

Meditating Inside A Rainbow

Blustery, stormy morning—the tallest firs are whipping around like saplings. Then for just a few moments, the dense shroud tears apart, revealing pieces of blue sky changing shape as fast as the wind can whisk the grayness by. And suddenly, falling from the clouds over the Strait, wide and curvy—my own rainbow…and then a faint twin appears, though its colors are reversed.

It is a sign?
Am I supposed to double some effort?
Reverse a plan?
Amplify some delight?

Then just as quickly, the clouds close like curtains and move in so near that sky and sea merge into one gray wall. But I don’t care. I will hold this twin vision in my heart forever.

Then at noon another rainbow appears, full and large, and arcs over the bay in a perfect bridge from peninsula to peninsula.

I wish I could walk across it, enveloping myself in every part of the spectrum—becoming violet, becoming aqua, then green, yellow, orange and finally reveling in red—living for those moments directly inside the light. I would be weightless, warm, wondering:

• Would I be altered, like someone who survives a lightning bolt?
• Would my skin glow and shimmer with the memory of being green and blue?
• Or would a mark appear—some cosmic tattoo on my forehead to alert the initiated that I, too, had crossed the bridge?

I would like that—a round rainbow bindi dot between my eyes, to keep me focused on the magic floating all around us, just waiting to be enjoyed.

CONTEMPLATIONS

• What magic waits in your world to be seen?
• What omens have appeared to you lately?
• Did you act on them? Is it too late?
• Have you been altered by an encounter in nature?
• What color of the rainbow do you want to be today?

MEDITATION VIDEO

I choose to walk the path of light. This video gives much to contemplate, and is about the Rainbow Warriors who follow the way of Great Spirit…very inspirational.

Considering the deepening ecological crises all over the planet, this is a great use of some of your meditation time. Focus on a vibrant, healthy planet rebounding from our neglect and mistreatment. How did the video affect you? Share your reactions below.

thank you for the gift of these fotos. Stunning. Rename thyself “She-who-would-capture-rainbows”!

Thanks macJax…I do get to capture a lot of rainbows living on a cliff overlooking two bodies of water. From my computer (where I spend far too much time!) I can scan the skies for bows, then it’s a quick hop outside to grab ‘em.

Even though I’ve seen and photographed probably 100 rainbows, I never get tired of them; they are always pure magic and each one is different. And I still want to climb one someday! ~Oriana

These are fantastic photos of a beautiful, inspirational symbol! And such a gift to us when they arrive! Linked to the symbols of the circle and the bridge, the rainbow is consistently healing. My mother’s name is Iris, which means “rainbow” — so I always think of her when I see a rainbow. Thank you for sharing your visions with the world!

Thanks Pinwheelgirl…I saw some more this morning, but I was in the rain & didn’t want to get my camera wet & couldn’t figure out how to hold an umbrella with one hand and hold my camera still with the other. Dog is too short to help! I love how they can appear seemingly out of nowhere, often when a day seems lost to rain and grayness, as if the Universe knows when we need a boost. I also hang crystals in all my windows to simulate rainbows on sunny days. ~Oriana

Beautiful photography, beautiful mental images. A message/experience that both I and my young school age children could share together.

Thanks Heather, You’re the first to mention reading my blog with your kids–that’s very nice. Kids especially respond to rainbows, don’t they? At least I did as a child–they’re just so improbable–that the sky should suddenly display such a colorful arc seems so illogical. I do understand the physics of it, but that doesn’t detract from the magical quality of them. ~Oriana

    Hello Heather, very inspiring.
It reminds me of the time in southern Spain,
when I suddenly felt the urge to walk out of the ranch and down the hillside into a valley where a huge mound lies. As I approached it, a complete rainbow from one horizon to the other, was before me. The angels guided me to that glorious site.
    Thanks for your beautiful presentation.
I passed it on to others.

Thanks Annie…That sounds like a perfect day in Spain…I have some nice memories of a trip to Spain and Portugal many years ago. Of course I gravitated to the beaches…the Med coast was warm when I was there, so calming. I love the way of life there, the slower pace, the siestas…brings back shimmering afternoons. Rainbows are such a gift, aren’t they? Spring and fall are more the seasons for them here; we don’t get enough rain in summer to spawn them. (But I’m not complaining!) ~Oriana
